About Pocket Monsters (Pokemon)

games
2021.08.31

Pokémon, or Pocket Monsters, are now more often thought of as global content.
Pokémon Cards (TCG), Pokémon GO, Pokémon Unite, and Pokémon Diamond/Pearl remake in 2021. There is a lot to talk about.

I know the origin of Pokémon, Red/Green. At the time, I never imagined that it would become such a global and representative content of Japan.
The first time I heard about Pokémon was in a small article introducing the new game in CoroCoro Comic (a magazine for elementary school children).
I think Nintendo didn’t have that much budget to start with.
The commercials that I have a faint memory of didn’t feature any famous celebrities. The only impression I have is that there was a narration that said, “Buy red or green, it’s a little different.

New information appears every day, and there is always a buzz about Pokémon. However, I thought that there are no users who cover everything in real time.
This is because, if you divide them into generations The Red/Green generation, like us, used to play on the Game Boy.
However, when they reach elementary and junior high school age and above, they move away from Game Boy and portable game consoles.
With the release of PlayStation, they have moved away from Nintendo games.

Especially in the Japanese culture at that time, games tended to be regarded as “evil”.
My parents would tell me, “Don’t play games if you don’t study.
I felt that just because I liked games, I was treated as an otaku.
Moreover, otaku were not treated with the same level of public acceptance as they are today.
It was treated as an oddity by boys and a nerd by girls, and I don’t think that was a factor that made me popular as a person.
I had a PlayStation, but it was important to have the attitude that I didn’t play that much.
Especially with Pokemon, people thought it was something that elementary school kids played.

Now you can play online, and there are professional gamers in e-sports and game distribution, as well as boys and girls who are enjoyers and self-proclaimed gamers. It is an established hobby and I think it can appeal to people in a fashion sense.

Most of us were old enough to quietly walk away from the game then, not now, and there are probably fewer geeks in the Pokémon Red/Green generation who know everything after that than you think.

It had been a long time since I played Pokémon, and that was Pokémon Sun/Moon.
I’m all grown up now, so it was a few years ago when I bought Sun and Moon respectively with a friend of my generation.
From there, I’ve kept up with the current state of Pokémon, and before you know it, there are hundreds of different characters and content that has branched out thick and fast. It’s like two generations of parents and children enjoying the game, and I can’t grasp the full picture.

However, the absolute most popular is still Pikachu.
The initial design of Pikachu when it was first released in Red/Green was an ugly rat, but it has been deformed more and more.
Pikachu is now the world’s second highest-earning mouse.

The back of the Pikachu is cute.
What do you think of it for carrying around a little bit of Pokémon TCG?
I hope Pikachu fans all over the world will get one too.

Also, the world officially recognizes you by the name of “Pokémon.
In the English-speaking world, the title “Pocket Monsters” means “monsters in your pocket.
If you’re talking about a monster that’s right where you put your hand in your pocket….
I’ve heard rumors that the name Pokémon is being distributed worldwide to avoid obscene misunderstandings.
Believe it or not, it’s up to you.
